A Hertfordshire father-of-six facing redundancy at the end of the month was surprised with a £133,000 car whilst at work.

BOTB Dream car competition winner Stephen Cameron said winning the prize was “the best feeling I have ever experienced in my life”.

Presenter Christian Williams visited the builder, who faces looking for a new job in the near future, at work to present him with the prize.

“I didn’t know when, but one day I knew I would win,” the Elstree resident said.

“I lost my mum a couple of years ago, things have been tight with money, and the job I’m working on is coming to an end.

“I feel like all of my prayers have been answered.”

He was taken around the corner to find an Audi RSQ8 worth £133,000, which turned out to have an extra £20,000 cash in the boot.

However, despite his obvious interest in the car, the dad admitted he was planning on taking the cash alternative to support his family.

“If it was just me, I would have taken the car, but I’ve got my family to think about and the money will mean so much more to us,” the 47-year-old said.

“When I showed the kids the video of me winning, their faces were priceless. One has already asked for a TV and another some trainers. I can still buy a new Audi with the money I have got.

“My plan is to take the family on a big holiday once they have finished school and to enjoy the summer holidays with them before I look for another job.”

The Dream Car Competition was founded in 1999 and has given away £68m worth of cars so far.

“It's an amazing prize, and it was great to surprise Stephen in person to see his reaction,” said presenter Christian Williams.

“I heard Stephen was a very hardworking individual, and after going through a tough time, I can’t think of a more deserving winner.

“I know he’s watched a lot of the videos of our other winners and often says it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, but I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot of people watching his video and will say the same thing.”
