WARRINGTON Conservatives have selected borough councillor Rob Tynan, Howard Klein and Gary Rushby as their candidates for Rixton and Woolston in the all-out borough council election on May 2.

Cllr Rob Tynan has served as a councillor for Rixton and Woolston since November 2022 after winning a by-election.

If elected, Rob, Howard, and Gary promise to focus on the ‘people’s priorities’ of protecting green belt from ‘Labour’s disastrous local plan’, keeping council tax low and ‘ending Labour’s risky investment strategy with £1.8bn debt’ and improving communal spaces with faster pothole repairs, more frequent gully cleaning and improvements to our outdoor spaces.

Cllr Tynan said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been selected to stand for Rixton and Woolston on May 2nd.

“Since being elected in 2022, I have focused on delivering for the residents of Rixton and Woolston, and if re-elected, I look forward to continuing to make it one of the best places to live, work and raise a family.

“For too long, the Labour administration, have neglected Rixton and Woolston and the residents of Warrington.

“I am focusing on delivering on the people’s priorities in Rixton and Woolston – they want to see our greenbelt protected and an end to Labour’s disastrous local plan.

“They want lower council tax and an end to Labour’s £1.8bn debt. They want an end to labour’s risky investment strategy and investment into Rixton, Woolston and Warrington instead.

“For too long, this Labour council has refused to be held to account by the members of the public.

“I will fight for openness and transparency from the Labour-run council, as full council meetings should be live-streamed to allow residents to see what they are wasting our council tax on. Warrington deserves better.”

Howard – who is a parish councillor in Poulton North and a trustee of the Longbarn Residents’ Association – said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been selected to stand for Rixton and Woolston.

“If I am fortunate enough to be elected, I intend to listen to your views, concerns and recommendations and campaign on your behalf.

“For far too long, the Labour has taken us for granted and has failed to deliver for Rixton, Woolston and Warrington. I want to ensure that Rixton and Woolston is one of the best places to live, work and raise a family.”

Gary said: “It is a pleasure to stand for council for Rixton and Woolston. If elected I will work with Rob and Howard to make it one the best places to live, work and raise a family.

“I know of the importance of our green spaces and supporting youth provision and I will work to make sure our greenbelt is protected from Labour’s disastrous local plan and that we prioritise youth provision across the borough by making sure our residents in Rixton can access the Youth Zone.

“For too long, residents have been taken for granted by the ruling Labour administration, it is time for change. Warrington deserves better. We need a council and councillors that will deliver for residents and focus on their priorities – Rob, Howard and I are committed and focused on delivering for Rixton and Woolston by ending labour’s high debt, risk investment strategy, improving our communal spaces and protecting our green belt.”
