The administrators looking to rescue the infamous North Quay development in Hayle have vowed that all aspects of the project will go ahead. Moorfields Advisory was appointed to sort out the mess left behind after the controversial North Quay Regeneration housing scheme in Hayle went into administration, leaving more than £135 million in debts.

This week, Moorfields announced they had appointed a new contractor, now revealed as DCS Universal Carpentry and Joinery Ltd, to complete Block Y1 of the current phase of the residential scheme.

However a spokesperson for the administrators said the Watford-based company has only been appointed to finish off one part of the 100-acre project saying that the firm specialises in projects ranging from new build developments, commercial projects to residential conversions and extensions. It covers all aspects of construction including groundworks, bricklaying, electrics, plumbing, carpentry, plastering, painting, tiling and joinery.

The specialist recovery firm was appointed administrators of Sennybridge ( Hayle ) Limited; Corinthian Plant Limited; Corinthian Pencoed Limited; Corinthian Land Limited and Corinthian Access Limited. Other companies involved in the scheme, including Hayle Harbour Authority Operations Limited, are managed by other administrators as a total of eight firms went bust - all run by Simon Wright.

The spokesperson said Moorfields intends to complete the entire project and not just the apartments and houses on the waterfront. Planning permission has been granted for residential units, retail, business and leisure floorspace.

The original plan was for a 60-home residential quarter built around a series of sheltered gardens and courtyards; The Stable Block, a renovation of a Grade II-listed building; Riviere Fields, a new 254-home neighbourhood; Chieftains Yard, a cluster of 32 flats set within a lushly planted former quarry; and Western Gateway, a beachside apart-hotel, community hall and water sports hub. If built it would add to the 131 flats, 20 houses, shops and business space and storage facilities for fishermen from phase one.

The Moorfields spokesperson added: "Delivery of the other phases, which include the houses on the hilltop and Riviere Fields are under review which will lead to a procurement process. We are committed to delivering the scheme in line with the planning consent."
