Cops lock down busy roads in Glasgow after 'severe collision'

A number of roads in Glasgow have been locked following a 'serious collision.' during rush hour.

Officers from Police Scotland were alerted to the incident at Clarkston Toll at around 5:20pm this evening, Friday, May 17. No information is available on any injuries at this stage.

A number of road closures are in place and people are urged to avoid the area, and to use an alternative route.

Locals have reported severe gridlock in the area with traffic building up in the surrounding roads.

The roads closed are as follows: Clarkston Road, southbound with a diversion onto Stamperland Gardens, Busby Road, northbound with a diversion onto Mearns Road, Benview Road is closed from Stewart Drive and Eastwoodmains Road is closed from Golf Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The incident occurred around 5.20pm and emergency services are in attendance.

"Please avoid the area and use an alternative route."
