Coronation Street actor flooded with support as he makes 'gorgeous' family announcement

Coronation Street star Calum Lill has been flooded with support from his ITV co-stars and fans after announcing his engagement to his long-term girlfriend. The actor took to social media over the weekend to share the news with his Instagram followers.

The soap star, who plays Joel Deering in Corrie, revealed he asked Roberta to marry him while enjoying a countryside break. He told his followers it was "about time" he popped the question as he shared snaps from the joyous occasion.

In one picture, Calum shared a picture of him and Roberta beaming as she showed off her engagement ring, in another snap of the couple Calum could be seen wearing a swimming costume belonging to his co-star Dolly-Rose Campbell, who is known for playing Gemma Winter-Brown on the cobbles.

Calum captioned the image: "About time I made an honest woman of her. Celebrated with drinks in the hot tub but Roberta thought it would be funny to remove my swimming shorts from the suitcase.

"Thanks @dolly_rose_campbell for lending me your spare cossie. I think I rocked it tbf." Calum was flooded with messages from his co-stars as Channique Sterling-Brown told her on-screen fiance: "Congratulations you gorgeous pair."

While Jodie Prenger added: "Awwww congrats kidda! How fabulous," and Tanisha Gorey replied: "YAYYYY!!!!!! Huge congratulations."

Lucy Fallon posted: "Congratulations guys!!!!!" as Emrhys Cooper added: "Yay! Congrats buddy. So happy for you both."

Calum has played secretive Joel Deering on the show since September 2023. His character was introduced as a duty solicitor helping Lauren Bolton but became a permanent fixture in Weatherfield after striking up a romance with Dee-Dee Bailey. Things have taken a sinister turn in recent weeks after Joel was revealed to be Lauren Bolton's killer.
