Coronation Street have clarified the disruption caused by Storm Doris yesterday (February 24), confirming that some scenes are having to be rescheduled.

The country has been hit by 100mph wind gusts and heavy rain over the last few days – making it impossible for the cast and crew of the ITV soap to continue filming on their location.

Helen Flanagan and Brooke Vincent, who play sisters Rosie and Sophie Webster, were among those affected as their outside shoot was brought to a halt due to the chaos caused by the storm.

But Coronation Street have clarified that the storm created no further problems when it came to interior filming – and that the scenes disrupted would be rescheduled for another time.

A spokesperson for the show said to Digital Spy: "We did not stop filming yesterday – we simply dropped a few scenes that were being filmed outside.

"We filmed many scenes on interior sets. The scenes we couldn't filmed will be scheduled for another day."

Flanagan has returned to Coronation Street where she's reprising her role as Rosie after five years away, and recently arrived back in Weatherfield amid a dramatic drugs scandal.

Upcoming scenes will see Rosie confess to her mum that her modelling career is in tatters, prompting Sally to stage a sexual harassment protest in her defence.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
