Ellie Leach fans have been left in tears and feeling 'so proud' of the star after she appeared on ITVBe reality show Drama Queens. The new series follows the lives of nine actresses from three of the country's biggest soaps: Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

Its debut episode, which aired on Wednesday night (April 10) caught up with the former Faye Windass star. Fans got to see Ellie's special bond with her mother, while the actress also spoke out about being under intense pressure from the press while taking part in Strictly Come Dancing last year.

Ellie, from Manchester, joined the hit ITV soap when she was just 10 years old. She left the cobbles after 12 years in July 2023, having endured some pretty major storylines - including a teen pregnancy, early menopause and her adoption.

Faye's final episode saw her leave Weatherfield in a packed car alongside ex-boyfriend Jackson and their daughter Miley after she broke the heart of her fiancé Craig Tinker. As she wasn't killed off, plenty of fans still have hope that she could one day return.

But since leaving Corrie, Ellie's been very busy. In December, she and professional dancer Vito Coppola two-stepped their way to the Dancing On Ice final and lifted the Glitterball trophy. At the age of just 23 years old, Ellie became the youngest ever Strictly winner.

Drama Queens viewers saw Ellie catch up with her mum Karen as she embarked on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour. It also saw her speak out about intense media speculation while on the hit BBC One show.

Sitting down with her mum, Ellie admitted life had been 'hectic.' Meanwhile Karen said she'd missed looking after her daughter - and not doing the cooking and cleaning for her.

"You've missed washing an ironing? Don't say that - I'll have plenty for you when I come home," Ellie joked. She went on to tell the ITV cameras that her mum is 'the most special human being on this planet.'

"When I started Strictly, it's very busy so I didn't have time to ring her or text her," Ellie explained. "So it was nice to be able to sit down and chat through everything that had been happening."

She went on: "When I was in Corrie, I didn't really get much attention in the media. So I think when I started Strictly... I knew it was going to be a lot of media, but I didn't realise that every single thing was going to be put in the papers."

Ellie went on to describe the 'shock' she felt when an ex-boyfriend spoke to a national paper and admitted that he had cheated on her, all the while speculating that she was dating a Strictly co-star. The actress broke down in tears while recalling the situation with her mum.

In emotional scenes, Karen hugged her and comforted her with kind words. "I've been finding it really difficult. It feels like wherever you go, everyone's talking about you," Ellie cried.

Taking to Twitter, formerly X, viewers were left in tears over Ellie and praised her for her maturity. @ilovelucyfallon said: "no ellie and her mum have got me tearing up so bad #dramaqueens" as @corriedalexo said: "absolutely crying for ellie... what a superstar she her and super proud of her... from corrie at such a young age to strictly... she has done so, so well and should be super proud of herself like we are of her"
