Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders confirm scheduling changes

Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Casualty will all face scheduling changes in the coming weeks as the soaps make way for live football coverage.

Official schedules from the BBC and ITV have revealed how all four shows will be impacted in the early weeks of Euro 2024.

The adjustments begin tonight (Friday, June 14), as Coronation Street and Emmerdale are both absent from the ITV1 schedules.

ITV1 will be airing the opening match of Euro 2024 this evening, as Scotland takes on host nation Germany in Munich.

Corrie and Emmerdale are also missing from the schedules on Monday, June 17 to make way for the Austria vs France match.

Emmerdale airs an hour-long episode from 7pm on Tuesday, June 18 to make up for some of the disruption, with Corrie following straight afterwards for an hour from 8pm. This is a rare Tuesday evening outing for the Weatherfield soap.

Both soaps air as normal on Wednesday, June 19, but there's no hour-long visit to Emmerdale on Thursday, June 20 due to the Spain vs Italy game.

Corrie and Emmerdale then air in their usual slots on Friday, June 21 and Monday, June 24, but there are no episodes on Tuesday, June 25 or Wednesday, June 26. Emmerdale screens its usual hour-long episode on Thursday, June 27 and both ITV soaps then air as normal on Friday, June 28.

Meanwhile, EastEnders will be shifting to BBC Two for certain episodes throughout the tournament. This has been a common occurrence for the Walford soap in recent years due to various summer sporting events on BBC One.

EastEnders' episodes on Tuesday, June 18, Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20 have been scheduled in on BBC Two rather than BBC One, in the usual slot of 7.30pm.

Beyond this, EastEnders doesn't air at all on Monday, June 24, but returns to BBC Two on Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26. The show airs on Thursday, June 27 and Friday, June 28 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

Fans of the Albert Square drama are likely to be less affected by the changes, with many viewers now accustomed to watching at their leisure on BBC iPlayer where episodes drop early at 6am.

Casualty will also be switching to BBC Two for its episode on Saturday, June 15.
