Some Coronation Street fans believe a new addition to the ITV soap "has no place" and have taken to social media to air their views.

As viewers will know, Roy Cropper is currently behind bars awaiting a trial after being charged with the murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. While his friends and family are doing all they can to prove his innocence, Roy too is trying to get himself out of trouble.

Scenes that aired on Wednesday showed Roy refusing to eat in his prison cell. He then began having flashbacks regarding Lauren.

His memories appeared as though projected on the cell wall, and viewers were quick to react to the new style of filming. On X, formerly Twitter, Traylor said: "What the hell was that?"

@BadSanta6996 said: "How's Roy allowed a projector in his room" and Greg said: "Weird special effects have no place in Corrie".

However, other soap fans enjoyed the scene, as Maria said: "I love it" and Emma said: "Woah what a cool edit".

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
