Coronation Street fans ask 'was that' as they spot familiar face after 'dream come true' role

Coronation Street fans were left doing a double-take as they spotted a familiar face in Weatherfield. During the latest trip to the cobbles on Monday night (April 15) Adam Barlow was seen annoying colleague Alya Nazir with plans to meet a new client.

While she informed him they had other commitments with another solicitors, Fabian's. Adam did his own thing anyway and met up with Rebecca, a new client, at the Chariot Square Hotel. Having ordered a bottle of wine, Adam flirts with Rebecca and the chemistry between them was evident.

When Alya called to tell him that he was needed in the office for a meeting, Adam killed the call leaving her frustrated. Alya then took the meeting herself with Rich from Fabian’s in place of Adam and Rich was impressed with her knowledge, suggesting she would be future partner material.

Adam later returned to the street with Rebecca and after they kissed, Adam was quick to invite her up to the office. But as Alya was winding up the meeting with Rich, the door suddenly burst open and Adam and Rebecca stumbled in, mid-snog.

But Corrie fans couldn't help but be distracted as they knew they had seen Rebecca before as actress Gemma Merna made her Weatherfield debut.

@jolaurenx quizzed: "What’s Carmel Valentine doing with Adam Barlow? #corrie." @DJTweetyPie posted: "Oh my Carmel is alive and well #Corrie." @DriftRidge28 added: "Carmel on the cobbles!!!! #corrie #coronationstreet."

Gemma announced she was joining the ITV soap earlier this month in a social media post. The actress, famed for playing Carmel McQueen in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, shared a picture of herself outside the iconic Rovers Return and said: "The news is out. I’ve been keeping a little secret. I am thrilled to announce that I’ve landed my dream job on @coronationstreet!

"Can you believe it?! I’ve wanted to be on Coronation Street since I was a little girl. Being born and bred in Manchester, it’s truly a dream come true for me. It’s been on my vision board for over 10 years, and finally, I got the chance to walk the cobbles. I can’t even believe I’m writing this."

The 40-year-old addd:I" think the best part was ringing my mum and telling her. To my dad, nana, grandad, and grandma, who all watched it for many years, and were huge fans. I hope you’re proud of me up there. Rebecca will be gracing your screens in the next coming weeks."
