Coronation Street fans say it's 'all kinds of wrong' as 'dodgy' Kit slammed for obvious Bernie 'plan'

Coronation Street fans have been left furious as they described Kit Green's latest move as 'all kinds of wrong'. The character first appeared in scenes aired back in May as Bernie Winter went on a mission to find her long-lost son.

The new storyline started when Bernie's ex Denny came back into her and their children Gemma Winter-Brown and Paul Foreman's lives, a year after the latter's Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis. Things went wrong when Denny took his son out and got him drunk.

And after being given his marching orders, Denny threatened Bernie that while he wasn't a good dad, she was worse and reminded her of her guilty secret. She has since seemed distracted and during the latest trip to Weatherfield, Gemma realised Bernie was lying about her whereabouts and asked Dev Alahan to do some digging.

Later, Dev confronted Bernie, who crumbled, admitting she had another son, Zodiac - known as Zac for short - who was taken into care. He was later adopted, changed his name to Christopher Green and she was left determined to find him before it was too late.

When she did find Kit, he lied and said he wasn't adopted but it was later confirmed that Bernie had found the son she gave up. Kit then appeared to target Bernie, taking her unnecessarily into the police station, much to the dismay of DS Lisa Swain. Eventually, the truth came out about him being Bernie's biological son, however, he made it clear he didn't want anything to do with her or her family.

But in recent Corrie scenes, fans saw Bernie go to Kit for help after Gemma was arrested for stealing shoes from a shoe shop for her daughter, Carhys. After PC Craig Tinker mentions Gemma and husband Chesney's struggles, Kit softens and calls at the shoe shop and convinced shop owner Bruce to drop the complaint, hinting he has information he wouldn't want getting out.

Back in the cell, Kit spoke to Gemma and she is intrigued to know why Kit wanted to help her. Later, she introduced him to Chesney and the kids but whilst there, he got a shocking call from his dad. Sitting on Gemma's sofa, he was delivered the tragic news that his mum had suddenly died.

He was informed she had suffered a stroke and he soon raced to leave Gemma's house but not before he came face-to-face with Bernie. Kit railed at his birth mum as he said: "I should have been with her today. Instead, I got caught up helping with your dodgy family." But he did eventually agree to come clean to Paul and Gemma about his identity, saying he and Bernie would come up with a plan to tell the twins.

Then during Monday's (July 1) episode, despite agreeing with Bernie to reveal the truth to Gemma and Paul twins together, Kit went behind her back and dropped the bombshell without her. Gemma and Paul were left shocked by the revelation as Kit was quick to paint Bernie in a bad light and when their mum arrived, she was horrified as the twins were furious with her and later claimed they wanted nothing to do with her.

Following Gemma and Paul's stance over the situation, which escalated when Bernie threw a TV remote at Kit, Corrie fans flocked to social media to share their upset at the timing of Kit's meddling as it was clear he relished trying to turn Bernie's life upside down and also claimed to have spotted his 'plan'.
