Coronation Street fans thing they've worked out how Roy Cropper's innocence will be proven.

As viewers of the long-running ITV soap will know, the much-loved character and owner of Roy's Rolls café has been charged with the murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. He has also been refused bail, meaning he must stay in police custody until the trial.

The storyline has sparked outrage, with many fans calling for Roy to be freed. Some viewers have even said they've stopped watching until Roy is back where he belongs.

Spoilers have revealed tonight's episode (Wednesday) will see Roy refuse to eat his breakfast, or even to come out of his cell.

Now some fans have a theory as to how Roy will be proven innocent. In a Facebook group set up by and for Corrie lovers, one user said: "This has gone too far, they haven't even found Lauren's body. Roy wouldn't hurt a fly".

In the post's replies, one woman said: "She is with Dee-Dee's Joel, I'd put money on it". A second said: "Definitely, the receipt was for Lauren's necklace. She's been with Joel and she's going to come back".

A third added: "This. And Joel is Nathan's brother".
