Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes shares glimpse at bridal looks

Former Coronation Street star Faye Brookes wowed fans as she tried on some wedding dresses ahead of her big day.

Brookes is set to tie the knot to her fiancé Iwan Lewis, her co-star on hit musical Legally Blonde.

The two played loved-up lawyers Elle and Emmett in the stage production based on the Reese Witherspoon movies and had been longtime friends before realising there was more to their bond.

In a new carousel post shared to her Instagram, Brookes can be seen trying on three different wedding dresses. The pictures show the soap star in a white number with a dramatic floral train and two other stunning gowns, with the photos being posted in a cartoon-style filter.

Brookes and Lewis are going to wed in the Cotswolds later this year after starting dating at the end of 2022, following her split from ex-boyfriend Joe Davies. Opening up about their romance, Brookes explained Lewis had always made his intentions clear.

"On day one of rehearsals of Legally Blonde, we'd known each other for a few years by now," she told OK! magazine.

"He came up to me and went, 'By the end of this tour, we're going to be together.' I was like, 'Mate, no, we're not.'"

Lewis drew inspiration from his Legally Blonde character (played by Luke Wilson in the movies) to explain his persistence.

"Emmett [was] the nerd who gets the girl in the end," he said.

"Sometimes art imitates life. There's always been chemistry, but we've never gone there until now. It's been written in the stars from the beginning. I've never been able to play it cool and I let Faye know on day one.

"Even in Legally, she wasn't single, so there was a window of opportunity and I thought, 'That's it. I'm going for it.'"

Prior to stepping into Elle Woods' high-heeled shoes for the musical, Brookes played the role of Kate Connor on Corrie. She announced she would exit the soap in 2019.

"Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after four fabulous years in Weatherfield, it's time for me to explore new opportunities," she tweeted in April that year.

"I've loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I'm off to pastures new."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
