Coronation Street: Kerry Katona Wants To Be A Rovers Return Barmaid

Kerry Katona, who is well known for having a tumultuous personal life, has revealed that she would love to take residence in Weatherfield.

The Atomic Kitten singer believes that, as a Northerner, she would be a perfect fit for the Manchester-based soap.

Kezza even has her ideal role pinned down, as she admitted that she would love to be the new Bet Lynch, pulling pints behind the bar of the Rovers Return – although she has warned that she might drink the place dry.

She told the Daily Star: “I think I’d be brilliant in Coronation Street – I’d love to do it. I wouldn’t want it to be just a cameo role, I’d want to be a character and join properly.” Could the ITV show producers be drawing up a contract as we speak?

Further strengthening her reasoning, the 35-year old added: “I’m a Northerner so it would be perfect.”

“I’d want to be behind the bar, definitely. I might drink it dry though.” In that case, we hope that the Coronation Street residents like water…

The mother-of-five believes that she might stand a chance too, as characters on the cobbles have mentioned Katona’s name 3 times over the years – well, that’s 3 more than us!

Kerry wouldn’t be the first popstar-turned-Corrie star, as former Hear’Say singer Kym Marsh has played Michelle Connor since 2006, while Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding appeared as Joni Preston in a four-episode stint earlier this year.

Most recently, former X Factor winner Shayne Ward has signed a one-year contract to play the role of Aidan Connor.

Will Kerry be the next celebrity to get her pen out and sign on the dotted line?
