Coronation Street legend announced for summer "Star Tours" at ITV Corrie experience in Manchester

Coronation Street fans will have more chances than ever to meet their favourite stars this summer. Bosses at ITV Studios in Manchester have announced cast members who will appear on the official Coronation Street Experience in the coming months.

The unique ‘Star Tours’ see mystery cast members from the show joining selected afternoon visits every weekend to add an extra layer of star quality to already-popular guided tours of the UK’s most recognisable TV set.

Now, Corrie legend Sue Cleaver has been announced will be among the mystery guests to appear in upcoming Star Tours at the Coronation Street Experience in Manchester this summer. Sue has played Eileen Grimshaw on the soap since the year 2000 and is one of Corrie's most loved characters.

This year’s Star Tours have already been attended by thousands of guests with Corrie royalty including Maureen Lipman, Colson Smith, Andy Whyment and Samia Longchambon having posed for photos, signed autographs and chatted to loyal fans. Bosses have said with a hint of intrigue: "but that’s not to say they won’t reappear on an upcoming tour".

Kristian Johnson, general manager of the Coronation Street Experience, said: "We know our guests want to get as close to the show as possible and our Star Tours are the ultimate way to do just that.

"Coronation Street has incredibly loyal fans and we are so fortunate that the stars of the show want to repay their loyalty. They love spending time with our guests to fulfil their bucket list wishes and give them a day to remember.

"Seeing their excitement when they come face-to-face with their favourite cast members like Sue, Maureen or Colson is undoubtedly one of the best parts of my job.”

Discussing meeting one of Coronation Street’s most iconic characters during a previous Star Tour, one fan said: “What an absolutely great experience. Our guide was first class, highly knowledgeable and had a wicked, quick sense of humour. The Star Tour was great value for money and we were delighted to have Dame Maureen Lipman as our star.”

A second said: “The experience was fabulous. Our tour guide was a lovely man. He made the experience great as he was very informative and humorous.

“We met Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney). She was lovely and took her time to welcome everyone. I would recommend Star Tours to any fans.”

With hundreds of guests visiting each day, fans are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. Star Tour tickets are now on sale slots until the end of September. Tours can be booked here.

The Coronation Street Experience is operated by Continuum Attractions and runs weekend Guided Tours of the soap set.

Guests are guided on a 90-minute journey around iconic locations including the Rovers Return, The Kabin and Roy’s Rolls, while they can go inside interior sets like Prima Doner. Guests can also walk along the entire length of Coronation Street, as well as adjacent streets featured in the show.

The Coronation Street Exhibition, housed in the Experience, is open seven days per week giving guests the chance to relive iconic moments, visit replica interior sets and see famous props from the show’s six-decades.
