There are emotional scenes coming up in Coronation Street as a two-decade-old secret comes spilling out, an unexpected hostage is taken and there's also a major exit for one character after 24 years.

Starting with Roy Cropper and as he remains behind bars for the murder of Lauren Bolton, the trolling over the case in the online sphere continues.

When Sam Blakeman calls at the café to collect Freddie the dog having promised Nina Lucas he’d walk him before school. As Sam heads out, unbeknownst to him, one of the internet sleuths who have been targeting Roy watches from a table in the corner.

It's not long before a distraught Sam soon returns without Freddie and explains that he ran off and Evelyn Plummer offers to mind the cafe whilst Nina and Toyah head out to look for him. In the cafe, Nina, Asha and Evelyn watch a video uploaded by the sleuths showing that they’ve taken Freddie hostage and to secure his safe return, Roy must confess to Lauren's murder.

Later in the café, Asha Alahan confides in twin brother Aadi that she’s had a response from the troll behind the video and she’s arranged to meet him in the precinct as Aadi offers to go with her. Evelyn Plummer, meanwhile, calls at the cafe with some ‘Missing Freddie’ posters and a birthday card for Nina.

At the same time, Amy Barlow tells Aadi that the lady at the charity can no longer do the radio interview as she takes on a new venture and asks him to do it instead. Roy phones the cafe to wish Nina a happy birthday and Nina makes out that Freddie is fine and assures him that solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey is doing everything to secure his release.

When Aadi reveals that Amy’s charity worker had to pull out of the interview because of a crisis with a vulnerable family, Joel Deering reluctantly offers to help. As Asha arrives at the precinct, there’s no sign of Aadi and she tries his mobile repeatedly. At No.1, Amy prepares to interview Aadi who fails to notice the missed calls from Asha.

As Asha makes to leave, TrueMan67 and his sidekick, Banditman, reveal themselves and start asking awkward questions to a scared Asha. Is Asha in danger?

Over in his prison cell, Roy confides in the prison officer that new evidence has come to light and he’s hopeful he might be released. In the court, Dee-Dee makes the case for Roy’s bail application and describes how Carla's nephew and Lauren's friend Bobby saw a man leaving Lauren’s flat who didn’t fit Roy’s description but the judge refuses Roy’s bail application.

Dee-Dee visits Roy in his cell and tells him not to give up hope and that the police are planning a reconstruction. Roy then calls Carla from prison and asks her to come and see him as he needs to talk to her about Bobby’s statement. Has Roy caught on to Bobby’s lie?

Elsewhere, Leanne Battersby FaceTime's to tell him about Toyah’s negativity towards the Institute and Rowan urges her to immediately distance herself from her sister. As Toyah searches the park for Roy's dog Freddie, she comes across three sleuths digging up a rose bed who reveal that they saw Freddie digging in the same place, so they reckon Roy may have buried Lauren’s body there.

After hearing this, Toyah sees red, picks up a shovel and smashes their car window whilst one of the sleuths films her on his phone. Nick Tilsely soon arrives and persuades Toyah to put down the shovel as she bursts into tears. Having returned home, Toyah rails at an upset Sam Blakeman for losing Freddie in the first place.

Soon after, the police call at Victoria Court looking for Toyah. Toyah calls in the flower shop and purchases a single yellow rose and when solicitor Joel Deering asks who it’s for, Toyah says it’s for Leanne.

Later, Nick desperately tries to keep the peace between Leanne and Toyah. When Joel asks Leanne if she liked the rose Toyah bought her, Leanne’s bemused and quizzes Toyah on it who makes out she binned it. Toyah remains adamant she was right to defend Roy’s reputation and to stop the sleuths from desecrating such a special place as Nick’s puzzled by her choice of words.

When Nick returns home, he finds Toyah in tears as she reveals that at 19 she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl, she kept it a secret and she buried her in the exact same place in the park that she found the sleuths digging up. Toyah takes a deep breath and admits to Nick that the baby’s father was Phil Simmonds, the guy who raped her.

Simon Barlow then returns home and oblivious to the tension, tells Nick and Toyah that the police are digging up North Cross Park and Bobby reckons they’ve found a body.

Also on the cobbles, Glenda Shuttleworth calls at No.11 with some washing when brother George reveals that he’s updating his will and would like Eileen to accept power of attorney. An offended Glenda storms out and later, a suspicious Eileen calls at the undertakers to find son Todd Grimshaw there, plying George with tea and biscuits.

Later in the undertakers, George files away a copy of his new will as an intrigued Todd watches on. Once he's gone, Todd reads through George’s will but Eileen catches him. When Todd reveals that George is leaving him the business, Eileen points out that he’d change his mind if he knew he’d gone behind his back. As Todd slips George’s will back in the file, he discovers a copy of Archie Shuttleworth’s will and quickly hides it inside his pocket.

At No.11, Eileen packs the last of her things for Thailand and tells George that Todd found a copy of Archie’s will which states that Glenda is to have half the business. As George pursues his dad’s will, Todd does his best to play down its importance. Will George tell Glenda the truth?

Meanwhile, over in the bistro, Leanne Battersby tells Nick Tilsley that she feels betrayed and he should never have kept sister Toyah Habeeb's secret from her. When Rowan arrives, Leanne immediately perks up and he soon suggests she should unburden herself of negativity and embark on some uploading.

As Leanne tries to object, Rowan urges her to put herself first. Toyah, meanwhile, calls in the bistro to find Nick run off his feet as Leanne is with Rowan so Toyah offers to help him out. As Leanne talks Rowan through all the bad things that have happened in her life, he listens intently and assures her that he’s by her side every step of the way.
