Coronation Street spoilers: Spider’s return revealed, plus Maria’s deep fake shock
Spider Nugent returns for Toyah on Coronation Street next week, Maria wants to quit politics, plus Peter contemplates taking Thorne’s cash.

The return of Spider
Toyah needs a distraction from her current troubles and decides to return to her campaigning roots. Friday’s drama sees her mounting a protest against waste incineration, and leads troops including Leanne, Mary, Brian, Nina and Asha into battle.

Their aim is to block the council bin wagon on Victoria Street, something that Toyah succeeds in doing by leaping into the cab of the big wagon. But as a man picks his way through the protest group, Toyah gets the surprise of her life when the guy turns out to be her ex-boyfriend Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock).
As the two of them reminisce, Toyah gets emotional about Imran’s death, and their heart to heart results in her inviting Spider to stay over.
Maria’s explicit video scandal
A viral video is doing the rounds that sees Maria’s head grafted onto a naked woman to make it look as though she’s in a porn film. And Gary’s raging when he sees how shaken Maria is by the convincing deep-fake footage.
Wednesday’s drama then sees Maria hosting a press conference, but when she’s heckled by refuse team leader Jimmy, Gary leaps to the conclusion that he’s the one responsible for the video’s creation.
After Gary aggressively pins Jimmy to the wall, Maria decides that the stress she’s encountering isn’t worth it and contemplates withdrawing from local politics. But will Sally’s plea that Maria shouldn’t be beaten by her trolls change her mind?
Will Peter make a deal with Thorne?
With £100,000 on offer from Thorne, we’ll see Peter contemplating making a deal with the devil in order to receive this life-changing amount of money.
After meeting up with nurse Tricia, Peter realises that she can’t offer up any new evidence. Thinking that he’s exhausted every avenue, Peter contemplates giving up the fight.
But on the day that the GMC delivers its verdict, Peter once again finds his anger getting the better of him and engineers a new angry showdown with Thorne. But in the confrontation’s aftermath, it’s Nicky and not Carla in whom Peter confides his feelings, with the two of them bonding over their shared contempt for authority trampling the little man.
Summer doesn’t feel beach ready
Summer may be planning her upcoming holiday to Spain with Aaron but she’s adamant that sunbathing isn’t for her, as she doesn’t feel confident enough to wear a bikini.
But when Aaron reveals that they’ve been given a free water sports session, Summer gets anxious, admitting that a skin-tight wetsuit isn’t for her. Later on, Summer decides that she’s going to look upon the session as a personal challenge, but still hating the way she looks, she ultimately decides to tip away her insulin…
Sean dumps Frank
When George earwigs on Frank threatening someone over the phone, he decides to finally put Sean in the picture about how the guy made his school days a misery by routinely humiliating him.
Despite’s Frank’s assurances that he’s now a changed man, Sean decides to end things between them.
Romance for Stephen?
Stephen admits that he was wrong to blame Gail for Audrey’s accident and tries to play peacemaker between mother and daughter. And at Audrey’s hospital bedside, he ends up issuing an ultimatum: either she patches things up with Gail or he’ll be on the first plane home.
Meanwhile, there’s an evident spark of attraction between Stephen and Elaine as he thanks her for the help she provided.
