Three Coronation Street cast members are reportedly vying for one spot on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Stars Shayne Ward, Faye Brookes and Katie McGlynn are said to be keen to follow in Jennie McAlpine’s footsteps after her successful appearance in the jungle last year, but bosses are only willing to take one of them.

A source told the Sun: “Jennie’s appearance on the series has inspired many of the Corrie cast to want to take part in the experience.

“She absolutely loved her time in the jungle and now Faye, Shayne and Katie are all eager to follow in her place.”

The source continued: “But TV bosses will only take on one Corrie cast member — and, so far, they have a tough decision on their hands.

“It’s still very early in the process but a soap star is always a popular option for I’m A Celebrity.

"Jennie was a real hit and Corrie bosses were fine for her to take some time off from playing Fiz Brown to be in the show.”

Ward may well be the most likely to appear on the jungle reality show as his Corrie character Aidan Connor will be written out of the show later this year.

McAlpine appeared in the 2017 series of I'm A Celebrity, coming in fourth and just missing out on a spot in the final to Iain Lee, Jamie Lomas and Georgia Toffolo, who then went on to win the series.

Coronation Street continues Monday, March 19 at 7.30pm on ITV.
