Coronation Street viewers asked why as ITV confirmed a schedule shake up.

Hour long episodes of the long-running soap traditionally air at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However, ITV has confirmed a changed to the usual format this week as the Lauren Bolton storyline will reach its dramatic climax.

The mystery surrounding the character's disappearance has rumbled on for several months. Roy Cropper has been charged with Lauren's murder but the characters in the Cobbles have been determined to prove his innocence.

A special set of episodes being broadcast this week will finally reveal what happened to Lauren on the night she disappeared. The editions will be broadcast on each weekday at 7.30pm as Corrie will temporarily return back to its old run time of 30 minutes.

An announcement on Corrie's Instagram page reminded viewers of the change. It said: "This week only, you get a daily dose of Corrie!... And what a week it's going to be!"

Fans took to the comments to react to the change. Colin said: "Oi... we're being short-changed by 30 minutes!"

Andrew added: "Suprised that they have made the decision to shorten the episodes to 30 mins when this weeks episodes will be about finally finding out what happened to Lauren. In the past they have moved Emmerdale to 18:30-19:00 and Corrie to 19:00 - 20:00 during BGT week so not sure where they don't anymore." [sic]

Doreen posted: "Why 30 minutes less?" Marie posted: "But I want my usual double corrie, why are you doing this?"
