Coronation Street star Alex Bain has been seen celebrating his 15 years on the cobbles ahead of his on-screen exit as Simon Barlow. Just last week the actor declared 'that's a wrap' as he officially finished his stint on the show after more than a decade.

Viewers of the ITV soap will best know the actor for playing Simon, the son of Peter Barlow. Alex joined the long-running show at the young age of seven and over the years he has been involved in some big storylines, including drug dealing, which led to his step-mum Leanne Battersby crossing Harvey Gaskell, and his mother Lucy's death

But soon, Corrie fans will see Simon - and Alex - waving goodbye to Weatherfield with details about how he exits currently not known. What we do know is that last Thursday (April 18) he shared his last selfie from his Corrie dressing room in which he could be seen sporting one of the soap's bright red Dryrobe coats used to keep the cast and crew warm when filming outside at the Salford-based set.

"That's a wrap for Simon Barlow everyone! Thank you to all at Coronation Street for the best 15 years of my life!" Alex wrote with a string of hearts and face holding back tears emojis. He then added: "PS: I'm gonna miss this coat seriously."

As he headed outside the building, Alex captured one last look at the studio with the huge Coronation Street sign across the side and said: "Might be grey skies, but I adore this place so much! Love you all my Corrie family!"

But his last day on set came after he'd celebrated his time on the famous street with his Corrie castmates. It appeared he had marked the end of his almost two decades on the famous street by gathering alongside some of his past and present castmates for a celebration.

Jack James Ryan, who played Jacob Hay in Corrie until his exit at the start of last year, took to Instagram with a snap of himself, Alex and his former co-stars Harriet Bibby and Elle Mulvaney, who play Weatherfield's Summer Spellman and Amy Barlow. Alongside the photo, he said: "15 years is no joke. An icon for so many and a brother of mine. We love u @alexbainofficial." Quick to reshare the post, Alex said: "Love ya too man," alongside a face holding back tears emoji. He then shared: "Thank you to everyone that came last night! It was an absolute blast!"

Now, Alex has shared a look at how he marked the end of his time on Corrie with a video shared to his Instagram page that had been professionally captured. "I know I am late but y'all should know this about me by now!" he started to write on his Instagram Story. "Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate at my leave's drinks. I love you all so dearly!" he added.

In the video, Alex could be seen with a number of his former castmates as they tucked into cocktails and chatted away inside The Alchemist at Salford Quays, just a stones throw from the iconic Corrie set.

At one point in the clip, it appeared Jane Danson, who plays Leanne, was giving Alex a gift which transpired to be a dog tag necklace. Charlie De Melo, who played Imran Habeeb in Corrie, made an appearance alongside co-star girlfriend Georgia Taylor, known for playing Toyah Battersby

On-screen dad Chris Gascoyne, who left the soap after nearly 30 years on Boxing Day, was also in attendance as was his former on-screen wife Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, while newer Corrie star Cait Fitton, whose character Lauren Bolton's disappearance is currently playing out on screen, also joined in the celebration.

The video was captured by Jessie B Photography and in response, Alex shared his appreciation and said: "Thanks for a fantastic night! Such amazing work from you guys."
