Coronation Street star Andy Whyment was jokingly called out by the soap as he enjoyed a 'brunch date' with his co-star amid a day of filming. Earlier this week, the actor was branded a 'hunk' by his co-star Alan Halsall as they headed out together during a break from the ITV soap's set.

As they beamed for a selfie at their dinner table, Alan, who fans know for playing Corrie's Tyrone Dobbs, posted the snap alongside Elvis Presley's track 'A Big Hunk O' Love' to his Instagram Story and said: "Little brunch date... with this absolute hunk."

Andy, however, has since taking to his main Instagram grid and shared the snap with his own fans and followers. Alongside the photo, the Kirk Sutherland star wrote: "Dinner date with @alanhalsall @thealchemistuk Media City before heading back to @coronationstreet."

And Corrie's social media team were quick to poke fun as they replied to the post: "Get back to work you two." Dylan Wilson star Liam McChenyne, meanwhile, seemingly thought Andy was spending his break elsewhere, writing in the comments: "Costco shop going well Andy?"

But it appears Andy wasn't wasting a second of his spare time as the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here star responded: "Been and done it mate and been to the Trafford Centre to get a new battery in my watch." Corrie's Sally Carman-Duttine, however, gushed: "Proper cute."

Fans were also pleased to see the pair together away from the famous street. @john_daniel_jewellery said: "Aww love this. Two of my fave characters from the street." @sue_rymell commented: "Great picture of you both with happy faces."

Back in April, Andy celebrated his 43rd birthday and Alan was among his long-time co-stars sharing their birthday wishes to the birthday boy on social media. Sharing a beaming snap of the pair to his Instagram Story, Alan said: "Happy Birthday to my big brother. Have a top day @andywhy36. Love ya!"

But Alan wasn't keen on being all sweetness and light as he also took a like dig at his friend by posting photos from an appearance at Old Trafford for a Manchester United game. Alan could be seen sporting a branded lanyard around his neck as he sipped on a glass of red wine.

Andy was watching from the side with a bottle of beer in hand as it's not uncommon for the pair to be seen watching the footie together. He'd added a 'Birthday Boy' crown to his co-star's head before imploring fans to 'click here for reality'. The next slide showed the same picture but this time, Andy was flicking the V's at Alan. "He loves me really!" he said with his own winking emoticon.
