Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has reached out to her followers for advice as she battles a painful skin condition.

The actress, who plays Cassie Plummer in the popular ITV soap, took to Instagram to share her struggle with peri-oral dermatitis, a condition that causes persistent redness or small bumps around the mouth and nose. It comes an otherwise happy time for the former Brookside favourite, who has proved a huge hit with fans since arriving on the cobbles earlier this year.

She's also reported to be enjoying a new romance with boxing star Ricky Hatton, after the pair met while taking part on Dancing on Ice at the start of 2024.

But taking to Instagram, Claire shared that things are not as rosey as the may seem, reports the Liverpool Echo. She said: "Having the worst flair up on my skin with my peri oral dermatitis. Please does anyone know a magic cure. It's so sore!"

Followers flooded her comments section with messages of support and well wishes, reports the Liverpool Echo. According to the British Association of Dermatologists, peri-oral dermatitis causes persistent redness or small bumps around the mouth and nose, and is usually treated with steroid creams.
