Claire Sweeney has shared the pain she is in with a health condition as she asked her followers for help on Monday.

The actress, who joined Coronation Street as Cassie Plummer last year, has been a hit with fans since she arrived on the long-running ITV show. Cassie's attempts to rebuild her life continued this week as she got a job as Ken Barlow's carer.

And while the former Brookside star is clearly loving her time on the cobbles, she has shared some less positive news with her many social media followers.

Sharing a photo on Instagram, Claire said: "Having the worst flair up on my skin with my peri oral dermatitis. Please does anyone know a magic cure. It’s so sore!" [sic]

According to the British Association of Dermatologists, peri-oral dermatitis causes persistent redness or small bumps around the mouth and nose, and is usually treated with steroid creams.

Fans have rushed to the comments section to send well wishes, as Freire said: "Sorry to read about your flare-up. It looks painful. Hope you can get something to help, wishing you all the best." @twomeywalsh_serendipityathome said: "So sorry Claire. It looks sore. Hopefully you get the right treatment and are feeling good soon".

David said: "Sorry to hear about this Claire please take care of yourself xx"
