Coronation Street star Jude Riordan makes fans laugh as he reveals the trouble his dad was having after joining him working on the ITV soap. It's not the first time the actor, who plays Sam Blakeman, has shared that his dad, Paul Riordan, also works in the TV world.

Fans were previously surprised to discover that Jude's dad was known for his work behind the scenes on many much-loved shows. Paul has forged a successful career in show business as a television director. Paul broke through in a behind-the-scenes role in Hollyoaks before he went on to earn directing credits for popular soaps such as Emmerdale and Casualty.

While he's previously worked on the cobbles, Paul has been back working on some new scenes but when he continued to do some work at home, he encountered a problem.

Jude took to his Instagram page, which is monitored by his parents, with a video of one of their beloved family dogs, Rufus. And it appears the furry family member is familiar with Corrie's iconic theme tune, even if it's not coming through the TV at 8pm on certain evenings during the week.

As Paul was checking back some of his work, Jude recorded Rufus' reaction and said on the social media platform: "Every time he hears it!!! Dad trying to do some edit work and Rufus not helping at all. Watch with sound on #corrie #coronationstreet #rufus #singthethemetune #dogsofinstagram."

And his fans and followers were quick to respond. @joanneclark1971 said: "Haha - brilliant our cocker used to do the same whenever Corrie came on." @laurieinqueens joked: "Get Rufus on Britain's Got Talent!!!!" @camcow2001 shared: "Awww bless your dog Rufus there pal." @nikigailkate wrote: "That’s HILARIOUS!!!!!!!" @vickymassam added: "Love this Jude haha."

It comes after Jude posted a photo to Instagram last month that showed the 12-year-old on the Salford-based set the Corrie actor with dad Paul and the pair were beaming as they posed for the photo on the iconic cobbles.

Alongside the picture, which appeared to be taken by Audrey Roberts' salon with Preston's Petals in the background, Jude said: "Another blockbuster with the Father @paulrio27 a busy couple of days! More bold choices. Back with him next week @coronationstreet".

Former Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna, who recently joined Corrie as new character Rebecca for a guest stint, was among those responding to the post, writing: "Amazing @paulrio27 best director there is for actors, so grateful for you".
