Coronation Street's Paul drawn into Rufus death fallout

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Paul Foreman faces arrest next week as he's drawn into the aftermath of Rufus Donahue's death.

Paul is in danger of being rumbled by the police as he tries to get rid of the car that he recently stole from Rufus.

Last week, Paul stole an expensive vehicle from Rufus' home on the same night that the businessman was murdered by Stephen Reid.

Next week, bad boy Damon Hay reads the details of Rufus' death in the Weatherfield Gazette.

Damon, who has been arranging criminal jobs for Paul, advises him to dispose of Rufus' car to avoid being linked to the investigation.

Paul drives off in Rufus' car and plans to dispose of it. However, as he continues to struggle with the symptoms of Motor Neurone Disease, he accidentally swerves across the road.

This attracts the attention of the police, who are driving nearby.

In the fallout, Paul worries about being wrongly linked to Rufus' death.

Dee-Dee Bailey is brought on board to oversee Paul's case and she advises him that the police are reviewing the CCTV footage from the night that Rufus died.

Dee-Dee tells Paul that, once the police have finished, he should be free to go. But is this really the last that Paul will hear of the matter?

Earlier this year, Corrie bosses confirmed that Paul will be formally diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in an emotional exit storyline.

Peter Ash, who plays Paul, told Digital Spy and other media: "I was called into the producer's office late last year. It was a shock. I suppose it's always a bit scary when you get called into the producer's office!

"[Coronation Street producer] Iain MacLeod said that they had a big storyline for me and it should be a great thing to do, but unfortunately, it would mean an eventual exit.

"I had mixed feelings, obviously. I'll be sad to leave the show – it's been such an amazing job and I've met fantastic people.

"But also, I'm quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline that hopefully will bring awareness to MND. It's also going to be quite a progression of Paul's illness."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
