Coronation Street's Rebecca Ryan welcomes baby girl - and shares sweet name

Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan has welcomed a baby girl, and revealed her sweet name.

The actress, who played Lydia Chambers on the ITV soap, confirmed back in December that she was expecting a baby with her husband Dan Acraman.

The star revealed on Instagram yesterday (May 2) that she has now given birth, also sharing that they have decided to call their daughter Aurora.

"Welcome to the world my beautiful baby girl Aurora," she captioned a picture of the newborn.

She has since received a host of messages from co-stars, with Harriet Bibby (Summer Spellman) writing: "Congratulations Rebecca! She is absolutely beautiful!!"

Elle Mulvaney (Amy Barlow) added: "Omg. the cutest. so so happy for you," while Julia Goulding (Shona Platt) said: "Huge Congratulations, she’s beautiful."

Meanwhile, real-life brother and co-star Jack James Ryan (Jacob Hay) quipped that his newborn niece was his "new best mate".

Announcing she was expecting last year, Rebecca wrote at the time: "I thought this year couldn’t get any better after marrying the man of my dreams, but it turns out it can… Can’t wait to become a mummy in 2023 x"

Rebecca and Dan married back in September after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the actress saying at the time: "Husband and Wife 24.09.22 - The best day of our lives!"

She exited as Lydia early last year, admitting upon her departure that she "had the most amazing time on the cobbles and it's an experience that [she] will never forget".

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
