Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has been flooded with compliments from her co-stars and fans during her time away from the cobbles. The actress has faced a busy start to the year in the ITV soap where she is famed for playing Maria Windass - nee Connor and Sutherland.

Heartbreakingly, Maria has also been faced with the fact her son, Liam Connor, is being badly bullied both at school and online by newcomer Mason Radcliffe and former friend Dylan Wilson, with the teen sinking into such despair he considered taking his own life.

And bullying is something Samia knows all too much about. The 41-year-old was recently asked if she'd done any research for the storyline to which she told the Manchester Evening News: "If I'm completely honest, I was bullied throughout my childhood at different times. I was bullied in primary school then I was bullied at high school as well so I can go off how it was for me.

"I think it's important to talk to people, to not bottle things up and as much as people are scared of being 'snitch', the bigger picture is you need tell an adult, you need to tell your friends, you just need to keep talking."

But away from her heavy storyline, which she also told us often left her and her on-screen son Charlie Wrenshall exhausted, Samia has been able to let her hair down as she enjoyed an event put on by M&S at which she was reunited with some of her Cooking with the Stars pals, the ITV show she won last summer.

Taking to Instagram, the soap star shared a mirror selfie she took on the night in which she could be seen looking gorgeous in a one-shoulder blue dress which she paired with some metallic heels while keeping her hair down and curled.

"(Not so) Blue Monday," Samia started the caption of the post. She added alongside the post on Tuesday (April 23): "Had a great time last night celebrating 6 truly inspirational women @wowglobal @marksandspencer thanks for having us!"
