Coronation Street's Toyah Battersby faces huge setback after blackmail threat

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

In tonight's (June 19) episode of Coronation Street, Toyah Battersby told Nick Tilsley that he would have to tell Leanne Battersby about their affair after cult leader Rowan Cunliffe threatened to blackmail them with incriminating photos of their recent kiss.

'We've got to get in there first," she said, adding, "we need to do the right thing and get everything out in the open."

"This will push her closer to them," Nick warned.

Later, during an Institute meeting at the Bistro, Rowan gave Toyah a copy of an NDA, which she had previously refused to sign, telling her to sign it.

"You're as good as telling me you're the one blackmailing us," Toyah said, explaining she was going to tell her sister the truth.

"Family's everything to Leanne," he said, "Your betrayal will tear her apart. Still, at least we'll be there for her, her true family. Don't worry, we'll pick up the pieces."

Rowan then gave a speech in which he announced that Leanne had been promoted to level 5. Leanne was delighted and thanked him as the other members clapped and Nick and Toyah watched.

Toyah decided to sign the NDA to keep Rowan quiet and gave him the document.

Elsewhere, Abi Franklin told her partner Kevin Webster that Stefan Brent is a board director of the production company that made the documentary about her late son's killer Corey, and that he owns the magazine Bethany Platt now works for. She figured he must have created the deepfake videos of her. "He's done it for revenge, pure and simple," she told Kevin.

The pair reported him to the police and went to the station to watch as DS Swain brought him in to be questioned.

But Kevin later told Abi and Bethany that Stefan had already been released. Abi confronted DS Swain at the station, who warned her to stay away from him. She then confronted Stefan, who denied making the deepfake.

Bethany told Abi that she would quit her job at the magazine but that it could be helpful to have someone keeping tabs on Stefan.

Kevin asked her to use her security pass to access the office, and Bethany gave it to him.
