Corrections and clarifications

• An article (Car insurance rises by 34% but payouts lagging behind, 6 April, p24) should have made it clear that the 34% rise in UK premiums was from the final quarter of 2022 to the same period in 2023. By contrast, the rises in Italy (6%), Spain (5%) and France (2%) were based on the average premiums across the whole of 2022 compared with 2023. The corresponding rise in the UK over the same period was 25%.

• A picture of a dining scene aboard the Titanic was from the 1953 film Titanic, not the 1958 film A Night to Remember (Fillet of elephant anyone?, 6 April, p3).

• An article about Scotland’s wild pines (Forgotten forests, 6 April, p31) was illustrated with a picture of birch trees.
