Corrections and clarifications

• An article said that Theresa May and Boris Johnson called snap elections in 2017 and 2019 respectively by using a provision in the Fixed-term Parliaments Act that allowed for the legislation to be bypassed with a two-thirds Commons majority. In fact, Johnson’s government failed three times to force an election under this process and eventually passed the Early Parliamentary General Election Act 2019, which required only a simple majority (Date with democracy, 8 April, p8).
