Corrie star Sally Carman-Duttine opens up over working with real-life husband

Coronation Street star Sally Carman-Duttine has opened up on working with her real-life husband and co-star Joe Duttine.

Sally, who plays Abi Webster, and Joe, who portrays Tim Metcalfe, met on the cobbles six years ago and tied the knot in 2022, recently celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary.

In a chat with OK! magazine, the actress revealed that she's still a bit hesitant to share the screen with Joe, joking that it would be "horrendous".

"It would be awful!" Sally said.

"Obviously, I love my husband dearly, but to work with him would be horrendous – he's too funny!"

The Corrie couple share updates about their roles on the soap, with Joe telling Sally about his scenes in detail.

"I do tend to watch Joe's stuff [in Corrie] at home, but sometimes it's hard to get into it because he's already told me everything about the filming of it," she said.

The soap star also opened up on welcoming Claire Sweeney, who joined the soap as villainous Cassie Plummer, to the set and how the dynamic at the garage has changed for the better.

"I can't tell you how much I love working in that garage with Mike [Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster] and Alan [Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs]," she explained.

"So when someone else comes along, you hope it works out because it's such a lovely dynamic. But Claire from day one has been absolutely joyful – she's gorgeous, she's funny and we all get on."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
