Corrie star says he was discriminated against for not being able to pay by cash
Daniel Brocklebank wanted to pay by cash at new food venue
Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has claimed he was a victim of "discrimination" after not being allowed to pay with cash at a new food venue in Manchester.
Brocklebank, who plays Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap, attended the opening of new food hall Kargo MKT based at MediaCity in Salford.

Following the event, Brocklebank took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to make his feelings known: "Was at the launch of #kargoMKT tonight in media city. Great choice of food but very disappointed to see that they refuse cash. A venue that discriminates those who can’t pay digitally is a venue I avoid."
A spokesperson for the upstar food hall that features various vendors showcasing food from around the world replied in a statement: "Firstly, we’d like to thank Mr Brocklebank for attending our launch night and for appreciating the food offering that we have worked so hard to bring together – we are extremely proud of it.

"We appreciate that some people prefer to use cash over digital payments but the intention to be cashless supports these businesses, some who are launching for the first time, to understand and manage their accounting better."
Brocklebank continued to discuss his opinions on social media with him later saying: "The moment we lose cash is the moment we lose financial freedom."
The actor later added: "I refuse to be dictated how I pay. Cash is legal tender."
Brocklebank has been a regular cast member on Coronation Street since 2014 where he plays gay vicar Billy Mayhew.
He previously spent a year on Emmerdale and has also starred in Hollywood films such as Shakespeare in Love, The Hole and The Hours.
