Coronation Street's David Platt makes a potentially life-changing confession next week, telling Audrey Roberts the terrible truth about her missing money.

David comes clean with Audrey (Sue Nicholls) when he realises that it's only a matter of time before she hears the scandalous details from someone else.

Next week's episodes see the Platt family head off to a holiday park together, but tensions rise when David's barber shop trainee Natalie Watkins (Cassie Bradley) makes an unexpected appearance.

Natalie has some worrying news to share with David and his brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), after months of secrecy over their cash con.

When David's fiancée Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) spots that Natalie has gatecrashed the holiday, she finally loses patience and tells him that their engagement is off.

If all that wasn't difficult enough to deal with, David panics when his mum Gail suddenly recognises the tattoo on Natalie's back. Gail remembers that she saw the same artwork on a CCTV still, which showed a mystery woman withdrawing money from Audrey's bank account.

Gail wastes no time before calling the police, which makes David and Nick realise that it may be game over for them.

Taking matters into his own hands, David speaks to Audrey alone and tells her everything – from Nick stealing the money, to his own subsequent decision to help spend it.

Whether Audrey can ever forgive her disloyal grandsons remains to be seen, but with the police now involved, the drama is far from over either way.

Once back on the cobbles, Nick offers David a shocking deal – he'll sign over his half of the barber shop if David takes the rap for stealing the money. Will David agree?

Jack P Shepherd, who plays David, revealed: "David is just sick of lying. He is spinning all these plates in the air and he doesn't want to do it anymore. David wants to get it all off his chest and into the open, try and repay Audrey and fix what he's done before it's too late.

"The lies are eating him up. David knows he could go to prison, but in his mind, he deserves it and he's prepared to face it so he can stop lying to his family."

Discussing the possible consequences for Nick, Jack continued: "Nick started all this, so David thinks if he's going down, he's going to take Nick down with him.

"David doesn't think he's going to get away scot free. There's going to be consequences for the pair of them, but he's prepared to face that.

"I think Nick is the more devious one these days. He's the one trying to claw back something from the lie. He's the one trying to push the blame onto David, and he's the one who's still trying to get away with it, whereas David is prepared to accept his fate.

"This is a massive emotional scar that I don't think the Platts are going to get over for a long time. It will divide the whole family and drive a massive wedge through the Platts."
