Corrie's Kym Marsh left needing hospital treatment after pet chihuahua scratches eye
Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has revealed her pet chihuahua clawed her eye so badly she was almost blinded.
The actress, who has played Michelle Connor on the cobbles for over ten years, says her pet pooch Rico is very “playful”.
However, playtime went wrong on this occasion, and Marsh was forced to seek medical treatment when her eye was scratched by a claw making it go “bright red”.

The 43-year-old was writing in her regular OK! magazine column where she revealed what had happened.
“As many of you know I’ve got a little chihuahua puppy name Rico.
“He’s very playful and likes to stroke your face with his paws. But he accidentally pawed my eye.
“At first it didn’t really hurt but my eye was stinging and when I looked in the mirror the left side was bright red.
“I went to the opticians and they told me there was a small lump on the eye. They put me on antibiotic drops but over the next few days, things weren’t improving.”
She goes on to explain how she ended up in an eye hospital and was told she had a cyst which may never go away, though she has been given eye drops to help treat it.
The star turned to acting after a stint as a pop star in the early 2000s.

She took part in ITV talent show Popstars and was placed in the band Hear’Say who had a number one song called Pure and Simple.
The success of the group was short lived, and Marsh decided to turn to acting and landed her role as Michelle in 2006.
Her stint on the soap is set to end in the coming weeks, though she says the door isn’t closed for good.
Asked recently if her character dies, she said: "No. The door is open so that’s good."
