Corrie's Robert tells a big lie to pregnant Vicky

Coronation Street's Robert Preston makes a risky move next week as he lies to Vicky Jefferies about his relationship with Michelle Connor.

Robert (Tristan Gemmill) will start to live a double life in the coming days following the big news that Vicky is pregnant with his baby.

Although Robert had planned to cut ties with Vicky following his reunion with Michelle, he changes his mind now that he knows they have a child on the way.

Paying a secret visit to Vicky's house next week, Robert is put on the spot when she quizzes him on whether he and Michelle are back together.

Vicky can tell that a shifty Robert is sneaking about, but he firmly denies it and insists that his relationship with Michelle is ancient history.

Robert goes a step further by using Michelle's tragic history as part of his cover-up. He urges Vicky to make sure Michelle doesn't find out about the baby as it would stir up terrible memories of losing Ruairi in 2017.

Vicky is sympathetic and agrees, unaware that Robert is manipulating her.

Speaking about the future of the story, Kerri Quinn – who plays Vicky – revealed: "She has her suspicions because she does want Robert there more and more often. He is always making excuses and disappearing, but I don't think for one minute she would suspect him of living this double life.

"I think if she thought that, she'd kick back into the Vicky of old. She'd be devastated because I think she genuinely has fallen in love with Robert. She's maybe more worried about his feelings for Michelle. She knows how much Michelle meant to Robert and how he still considers her feelings, so she definitely sees Michelle as a threat."

Asked how Vicky would react to Robert planning a wedding for him and Michelle, Kerri replied: "I think it would absolutely break Vicky because I think Robert is someone she puts on a pedestal as a good man.

"He's been so good to her and Tyler that she wouldn't think he's capable of betraying her in that way. She'd be heartbroken but also a little bit furious, just a smidge!"
