Coronation Street's Sarah Platt will attempt reach out to her daughter Bethany by opening up about her past experience with an internet paedophile.

Bethany (Lucy Fallon) is currently being groomed by sinister Nathan and has recently started to take things further with him, completely unaware of his dark plans to "pimp her out" to his friends in a shock sex ring storyline.

Sarah (Tina O'Brien) is naturally worried sick about the teenager's relationship with a much older man and has desperately tried to put a stop to it, to no avail. But upcoming scenes will see her take a softer approach with Bethany as she admits that she has a harrowing reason to suspect that Nathan's intentions aren't all they seem.

Long-term Corrie fans will remember that Sarah was groomed by an older man she started speaking to on an internet chatroom back in 2001, after being led to believe that he was a boy of her age.

Thankfully for Sarah, she had a lucky escape when the police intervened before the situation grew worse, but she will use the experience to make Bethany aware of the dangers of being involved with a man she barely knows.

Bethany is certainly taken aback by Sarah's ordeal with a sex abuser and relays the conversation to Nathan, explaining that's why her mum needs to get to know him. But will Sarah's story make Bethany think twice about her relationship with Nathan?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it as Lucy Fallon recently spoke about the dark scenes they are filming currently, which will see Bethany passed onto one of Nathan's friends for sex.

"The storyline is disturbing," she told The Sun on Sunday. "It has been really uncomfortable to film.

"This week we read through the first scene where Nathan will pass her on to one of his friends for sex as a favour.

"She isn't raped, she agrees to have sex with the guy, but only because Nathan tells her it is normal and that this is what adult relationships are really like. When I read that, it made my skin crawl. It was horrible."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
