The council has issued a warning as Pleasington Cemetery and Crematorium is set to be “very busy” today (June 14).

The cemetery is set to be busy between 3.30pm and 6.30pm due to two funerals taking place within the new extension of the site.

Anyone attending the cemetery during these hours has been urged to park in the areas marked yellow on the map provided and avoid the areas marked in red.

The extension will be closed to vehicles but the area can still be accessed on foot.

Parking in the area marked red can cause damage to the grass and also lead to vehicle being blocked in.

A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Cemeteries and Crematorium said: “We have another busy afternoon today (June 14) and we expect the cemetery to be very busy from 3.30pm until 6.30pm due to two funerals taking place within the new extension.

“If you are attending the cemetery by vehicle during these hours, please park only in the areas highlighted yellow – seen on the map attached.

“Please do not park in any of the areas marked in red. The extension, past the red cross – will also be closed to vehicles. However, you can still access the area by foot.

“Parking in areas marked in red causes a lot of damage to the grass and can cause vehicles to be blocked in and we hope you will help us in ensuring this doesn’t happen going forward.”
