A couple who were ridiculed for making a snap decision to buy a home have had the last laugh - after putting it through an incredible renovation. Amy Wright, 25, and David Lavery, 26, were told they had just 10 minutes to put an offer in on the house back in November 2022.

That was all the time they needed as they knew the property, in north Liverpool, was "the one". And despite being "laughed at" for buying a home that was in major need of work just weeks before Christmas - they have completely transformed their first house together, Liverpool ECHO reports.

Amy, an online fitness coach, and project manager David have turned the dated-looking home into a stylish space with mostly neutral tones and splashes of fashionable black.

They have replaced old carpets with stunning herringbone flooring and they have installed an incredible media wall in their living room, with a statement fireplace and built-in TV.

The bathroom has been one of the biggest transformations, with the couple taking down a partition wall to open up the space and completely modernising the room with a walk-in shower and sleek bath.

Amy has been charting their renovation journey on both Instagram and TikTok, racking up the views with their progress posts. She said: "I think the whole thing was a challenge, but in a good way - we love a challenge.

"Me and David get asked quite a lot about how we managed to do most of the hard part in two months, but you just take it one step at a time.

"It's the best feeling seeing it come to life and it actually starting to become a home. I am loving furnishing it, but I have to be honest - I am missing the whole renovation part of the journey we had at the start.

"Even though it was hard work, I loved every minute of it. It really is the most satisfying thing ever seeing a shell become your home. Even just knocking down little walls, stripping paint off, seeing your skirting boards put in, it's so good."

Amy's highlights of the work so far are the stunning bathroom, the media wall, and their brilliant flooring. Though getting everywhere painted was also a huge step for her. This time last year, she said: "Especially because I'm such an indecisive person, picking the paint colour was so hard.

"My favourite spot is the bathroom, definitely. I wanted to go for a hotel vibe, and I think we definitely achieved this. However, I do love the living room. I am obsessed with the media wall from LD Media Walls."

And she hinted that the couple could take on more renovations with it potentially becoming "a regular thing". She said: "We have loved every minute of it."
