Couple Who Spent £67,000 Cloning Their Dead Dog Welcome His New Puppies

A couple of devoted dog-lovers were so devastated when their beloved boxer died that they spent £67,000 cloning him.

Richard Remde and Laura Jacques are now the proud owners of Chance and Storm, who’ve recently arrived home after six months in quarantine in South Korea.

The couple sent cells taken from Dylan to the Sooam Biotech Research Foundation in Seoul, and identical puppies, Storm and Chance, are the result.

The pups are now at home in Silsden, West Yorkshire, with their new family.

Richard, 43, told ITV’s Real Stories With Ranvir Singh: “Some people go out and buy their fancy sports cars or go on fancy holidays. We don’t do that and we decided to spend that money on these dogs.”

The pet mad couple already own many other animals, including dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Laura, 29, was hit especially hard by the loss of Dylan, who died of an inoperable brain tumour last year, as he was her first dog.

She admitted that she had considered getting Dylan stuffed, before settling on the cloning option.
