A popular Coventry nightclub is facing a backlash after announcing it would host a 'world exclusive' 'appearance' by Fiona Harvey, alleged to be the real inspiration for the character Martha on the Netflix show Baby Reindeer. Kasbah on Primrose Hill Street posted online that she will 'take selfies' and 'sign autographs' and maybe take a 'lucky reindeer home to hang her curtains'.

Fifty-eight-year-old Fiona recently gave an exclusive interview to Piers Morgan. In it, she said the hit show, which centres around a former lawyer unveiling a relentless stalking and harassment campaign against writer and screen star Richard Gadd, was a 'work of fiction'.

The seven-episode miniseries is a 'true story' according to Netflix. It shows how Richard's character Donny is subject to endless hours of unwanted voice messages and more than 40,000 emails from 'Martha', a woman he meets in the pub he works at.

Kasbah Nightclub has a history of pranking followers with stunts, including a false meet and greet appearance with the 'Tinder Swindler' Simon Leviev in 2022 and a personal appearance from former health secretary Matt Hancock in 2023. There was also a false claim that Donald Trump's lawyers forced them to remove an image of the president from publicity shots.

CoventryLive has contacted the club to ask whether Fiona Harvey will be appearing at the nightclub. Their social media says the event expected to be taking place on Saturday, May 18.

Hundreds of comments have poured in on Kasbah's Facebook page. The venue has been accused of 'taking advantage' of her.

Georgie Davis said: "I hope this is a joke." Ayaz Ali said: "This is grotesque."

Denise Thompson said: "This is absolutely vile." Kate Gar said: "There is low and then there is Kasbah low."

Mia Buckley was furious, saying: "I hate living in this city. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again."

Many questioned whether the post was a joke. So far, despite responded to many comments on its post with sarcastic jibes, the venue has yet to say any more.
