Michael B. Jordan is getting back in the ring in the first trailer for his Rocky spin-off Creed II.
The teaser officially launched on Wednesday (June 20), and before that, there was a brand new poster featuring Jordan's Adonis Creed looking jacked. Have a look below:
The spin-off of the Rocky franchise ties into its roots more directly than ever before by having Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) train Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) for a bout that has implications far beyond any typical prize fight.
Adonis signs to go twelve rounds with the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the Rocky III-era Soviet fighter who killed his father Apollo Creed during a 1983 boxing match. Can he gain the ultimate revenge on his father's behalf?
Stallone was originally supposed to direct Creed II in addition to reprising his role as the Italian Stallion, but ultimately handed over the creative reins of the Rocky spin-off to The Land's Steven Caple Jr.
"The character of [Michael B Jordan's] Adonis Creed reflects this generation and its challenges," Stallone recently said. "I believe it's important for the director to also be a part of this generation like I was in mine, to make the story as relatable as possible.
"We are extremely lucky to have the talented young filmmaker Steven Caple Jr step up and accept the role of director. I am confident that he and Michael B Jordan will hit it out of the park!"
Creed 2 will be released in cinemas on November 21, 2018 in the US and November 30 in the UK.
