Cressida Bonas opens up about fertility struggles after welcoming her first child

Cressida Bonas has opened up about her struggles with fertility after welcoming her first child last month.

The model and actress, 33, who announced she had given birth to a baby boy with husband Harry Wenworth Stanley last month, told how her preoccupation with becoming a mother had become ”overwhelming” when she could not fall pregnant naturally.

In a letter published by The Sunday Times Bonas revealed that she became “desperate” as she felt “my body was failing me”.

“I spent time and money on reflexology, nutritionists, acupuncture and psychics…Even a German healer who speaks to angels. I heard nothing, not a squeak.” she wrote.

“My mind was on a constant worry loop and my obsession with getting pregnant became overwhelming. No matter how many Mystic Megs I saw or expensive supplements I took, nothing was working, and I felt as if my body was failing me.”

She also recalled feeling out of place amid her struggle to get pregnant and eventually “avoided” parties for her loved ones’ children as a result.

She eventually turned to IVF, which she admitted initially “frightened” her as she felt “powerless” in regards to the outcome.

However, following a successful first round in the treatment, she welcomed her son in November and acknowledged how ‘lucky’ she and her husband were.

"I am aware how fortunate we are," she said. "We haven’t suffered the extreme heartbreaks that other couples have.

"I count myself extremely lucky that IVF worked for us the first time."

Bonas married her property developer Wentworth Stanley, son of the Marchioness of Milford Haven in July 2020 in an intimate ceremony during lockdown.

She famously dated Prince Harry between 2012-2014, after being introduced to him by his cousin Princess Eugenie.
