Crews Rescue People From Roof of House Amid Brazil Flooding

Military police rescued two people from the roof of a house in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul as intense flooding continued across the southern state on Thursday, May 2.

Video released by the state military police shows crews using a helicopter to reach the stranded duo in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul.

On Wednesday evening, Governor Eduardo Leite declared a “state of calamity” due to the flooding which by Thursday had left at least 13 people dead and more than 9,000 homeless, according to the local government. Credit: Brigada Militar-RS via Storyful
