Crews Stabilize Fast-Moving Wildfire in Catalonia, Officials Say

Crews quickly stabilized a fast-moving wildfire that broke out in Spain’s Catalonia region on Friday, September 22, fire officials said early Friday evening.

The fire was reported around 2:50 pm and grew quickly, but slowed down a few hours later due to the nature of the terrain, Catalonia officials said. Emergency personnel received 224 calls related to the fire, which burned 62 acres (25 hectares), officials said.

The cause of the wildfire is under investigation, emergency officials said.
