Crowds Protest in Paris After Two Demonstrators Left Severely Injured

Large crowds gathered in Paris on Thursday, March 30, protesting against police violence after French media reported two demonstrators were left severely injured in Saint-Soline earlier in the week.

According to Le Monde, there were around 200 protesters injured with 40 in serious condition and two people in a coma.

Footage by Brendan Gutenschwager shows protesters marching in the streets of Paris as authorities put out small fires near the Hotel de Ville.

RTL reported that six prefectures across France banned all gatherings ahead of Thursday night’s demonstrations, in a bid to discourage protesters.

However, various demonstrations still took place on Thursday evening, according to RTL, with hundreds gathering in Rennes, Dijon, Lyon, Strasbourg and Nantes. Credit: Brendan Gutenschwager via Storyful
