Crowds Riot and Loot Minneapolis Target Store After Man Shoots Himself

Looters raided a Target store in downtown Minneapolis on August 26 after news broke of a man’s death in the city.

Shortly after the reports, Minnesota Police released a graphic video showing the man they described as a “murder suspect” taking his own life when approached by police. Reports said the city’s police chief stressed at an evening press conference that the death was not an officer-involved shooting.

Governor Tim Walz placed a curfew on Minneapolis and mobilised the Minnesota National Guard, according to local reports.

Michael Karbo witnessed the looting inside the store and filmed this video of the scene before he “received threats”, forcing him to leave.

“We were in Target for about 5 minutes and at checkout we heard a crash. People just started streaming into the store looting and destroying items. Very chaotic and the electronic section seemed like a priority for the looters,” Karbo told Storyful.
