Yahoo News ‘The Crown’ Final Season Trailer: Princess Diana’s Fatal Car Crash and Paparazzi Frenzy Teased in Part 1
Netflix has released the trailer for Part 1 of the sixth and final season of “The Crown,” slated for release on Nov. 16.
The final season will be split into two parts, with the first four episodes exploring the new relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed before their tragic car accident. The second half, consisting of six episodes and premiering Dec. 14, centers back on Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. Screen time is also dedicated to Prince William and Prince Harry grappling with their royal duties in the wake of their mother’s untimely death.

The trailer hints at the overwhelming media frenzy that played a role in Princess Diana’s death, in addition to depicting the family’s relationship to the press after her passing.
Series creator Peter Morgan recently spoke to Variety about reports that Princess Diana’s ghost would appear in the final season. “I never imagined it as Diana’s ‘ghost’ in the traditional sense,” he said. “It was her continuing to live vividly in the minds of those she has left behind. Diana was unique, and I suppose that’s what inspired me to find a unique way of representing her. She deserved special treatment narratively.”
Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, spoke about Morgan’s farewell season: “Peter did such an amazing job at weaving all of these stories together and really leaving us with such a powerful emotional ending.”
Bajaria continued, “It really does give you the feeling of honoring the queen’s entire reign.”
The cast features Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair, Salim Daw as Mohamed Al Fayed, and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed. Rufus Kampa and Ed McVey play Prince William at different ages, while Fflyn Edwards and Luther Ford play Prince Harry. Meg Bellamy plays Kate Middleton.
In addition to Morgan, “The Crown” is executive produced by Suzanne Mackie, Andy Harries, Stephen Daldry, Matthew Byam Shaw and Robert Fox.
