When is Cursed coming to Netflix and what's the show about?
As the controversial series 13 Reasons Why draws to a close, Australian actor Katherine Langford is back fronting another brand new series for Netflix.
The 24-year-old will front Cursed, a reimagining of the King Arthur myth in which the tale of the famous king of yore and his knights are instead headed up by the fearsome Lady of the Lake, exploring religious and racial persecution.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Tom Wheeler and Frank Miller, Cursed is almost guaranteed to be a sure-fire hit this summer.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming 10 part series.
When is Cursed on Netflix?
The good news for those who sound intrigued by the new series is that we don’t have long to wait until it drops, with Cursed released worldwide on the streaming platform on Friday 17th July.
Who stars in Cursed?
The series has pulled in an impressive cast: Katherine Langford leads as Nimue, a member of an oppressed clan who finds herself at the heart of a revolution.
Elsewhere, Devon Terrell (who played a young Barack Obama in 2016 film Barry) will play the young King Arthur, while Westworld star Gustav Skarsgård plays Merlin and Teen Wolf actor Daniel Sharman is cast as the Weeping Monk.
Ozark’s Peter Mullan, Sex Education’s Lily Newmark and Game of Thrones star Clive Russell also feature among the ensemble cast.
What is Cursed about?
The story follows the tragic Nimue, with her extraordinary talents as she grapples with her destiny of becoming the Lady in the Lake.
She finds herself working with unlikely partner Arthur following her mother’s death, as they bid to try and find Merlin and deliver Excalibur.
However, while they take their quest, Nimue and Arthur find themselves battling against the sadistic Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther – with Nimue’s own abilities coming to represent courage and strength during the rebellion.
The Netflix synopsis adds: “Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”
