'Custard ravioli... whatever next?' MasterChef contestant's bizarre choice of dessert on first episode of new series causes stir among viewers
Custard ravioli and mushroom jelly were on the menu on Wednesday night's MasterChef, baffling viewers.
The show usually makes spectators hungry as delicious main courses and puddings are prepared, but stomachs were turned by the unusual dishes on show on the latest episode.
The chef who made the strange pudding got his just desserts when it turned out to be a flop after it was presented to former show finalists in the second round of the competition.
Judge Jane Devonshire said sadly: "There's no custard in my ravioli."
Fans of the show, which aired on BBC One, spoke of their bafflement over the choice of dish.
"okay my formula for #masterchef is to never not make a dessert, just always make a dess-CUSTARD RAVIOLI LEWIS?!"
