Hull City Council has confirmed that the Boothferry Road cycle lane, leading out of the city towards Hessle and the Humber Bridge, will undergo resurfacing later this month.

In line with the council's pledge to enhance cycling infrastructure across Hull, the revamp of the cycle lane is set to boost safety by improving road conditions and minimising hazards. Upon completion, the upgraded cycle lane will offer a secure and accessible path for cyclists to travel between the five ways roundabout and the city boundary.

The works are set to begin on Monday 10 June and are anticipated to end in roughly two weeks, weather permitting. For the protection of contractors and the public, lane closures will be implemented during the works. Outbound bus stops will also be temporarily put on hold.

Ian Cappleman, highways programme manager at Hull City Council, said: "As a council, we recognise the importance of cycling as a sustainable mode of transport and as an active form of travel. With more and more people choosing to cycle in the city, investing in our infrastructure is an important priority."

"By resurfacing the outbound Boothferry Road cycle lane, we aim to encourage more people to choose cycling and help promote a healthier, greener Hull. We would like to thank our residents in advance for their patience and understanding while we carry out these works."

The council has commissioned PBS Construction to execute the scheme.
